Mónica RiveiroWhere does the idea for the project come from?
Here is a new joint project by Carlos Conde and Mónica Riveiro. It is titled The Railing. It is inspired by our endless and almost daily walks along the Muro de Gijón promenade. We don't always take photographs. We also observe while we walk or rest on the benches under the pergolas. One day, we realized the multitude of people and countless stories that intertwine along this backbone of the city.
The seed of this idea also grew from the countless times I gazed at another photograph: an image of my father leaning on the railing, that same railing which now gives its name to our project, taken in the 1960s. In his memory, and for all the times he gazed at the sea from that railing.
Week by week, each of us will contribute a photograph to the project. When will we bring it to an end? Only time will tell.
