ONE
It all starts with a dream. And as is often the case, dreams are confusing upon waking, vague, and only fragments of images are remembered. And among those fragmentary images, some become clearer in my mind.
In my dream, I hold in my hands some A4-sized prints of photographs taken of a tree in the center of a landscape, half sky and half plain. It's the same tree under different skies and lighting conditions. Then, a word: "ONE." In uppercase letters.
Upon waking up, I remain confused but with those images fixed in my mind. There are dreams that seem like messages from the subconscious.
A few days later, I feel the need to get in the car and search for that tree. I finally find it. The tree and the landscape surprisingly resemble those in my dream. From that moment on, I start photographing it.
Nearly a year after finding that tree and photographing it for seven or eight months, I still don't know the meaning of the tree or why the word "ONE."
In every photo I've taken and processed, I wanted to reflect a mood at the moment of clicking the shutter. Visiting and photographing that tree became a sort of therapy, a way of expression, and a means to let out what was inside me during each visit to the place.
The last photo is a symbol that I carry with me as if it were a totem, reminding me of that tree from my dreams.
